City Managers' Association, West Bengal
Constitution and Activities

The City Managers' Association, West Bengal was established under FIRE(D) Program, a joint initiative of the Government of India and the United States Agency for International Development by the Department of Municipal Affairs, Government of West Bengal and registered under the Societies Registration Act in May, 2004.

The Association is guided by the Memorandum of Association and the Registrations framed there under.

  1. To strengthen the quality of local governance through professional management;
  2. To provide knowledge and skill which are common to all city managers;
  3. To continue professional development for persons in urban management positions;
  4. To share information and experiences in city management practices;
  5. To access international on development technologies and best management practice;
  6. To disseminate success stories of urban management practices in West Bengal;
  7. To facilities various local Governments to have access to the right kind of technologies and expert assistance in implementation and to find finance for the same.
  8. To have a centralized clearing house of information on new technologies and management practices;
  9. Overseas training;
  10. Urban advocacy;
  11. To solicit, obtain or accept subscription, donation, grants, gifts, devices, bequests and trusts from any person, firm, corporation or institution;
  12. To print, publish, and exhibit any book, pamphlet or poster that may be considered desirable for the promotion of the objects of the Association;
  13. To affiliate and/or amalgamate with any other association, institution, or association having objects wholly or in part similar to the objects of the Association;
As per the Registrations the Association has a General Body and an Executive Committee. The Executive Committee meeting is held once in three months and the General Body once in a year. The office bearers are elected in the Central Body meeting held annually. It has till now enlisted 36 institutional members including two NGOs on payment of annual subscription as stipulated in the Regulations of the Association.

The membership in evidently subscription based and the Association is administered by an Executive Committee elected in each annual general meeting of the Association as per the Regulations.
The Association is guided by the Memorandum of Association and the Registrations.
